SRCT’s New Department

Who do you go to if you need to hire new staff? To arrange a large event? To handle sensitive personnel matters? And who can help you navigate issues with other units, including the Business Resource Center (BRC), the UCOP Budget Office, UCSF Human Resources and UCLA Procurement?

It used to be that you could turn to your Management Services Officers, but their numbers have been drastically reduced due to restructuring and budget reductions.

Knowing the importance of these business and operational functions, UCOP will be reorganizing the Strategic Resource Coordination Team  (SRCT) to handle these issues. SRCT’s new department will support departmental operational needs in a consolidated, consistent and cost-efficient manner. The team will be accountable for timely handling of operational activities and consistent compliance with policies and procedures.

SRCT is recruiting for positions beginning this week; all who are interested are encouraged to apply.

An informational brown bag is scheduled for Thursday, September 24, 2009. At this brown bag session you’ll learn more about the reorganization of SRCT, view the department’s new org chart, find the timeline for recruitment, and have an opportunity to ask questions. The event will be held from 12:00 – 1:15 p.m. in Room 9204 Franklin. If you can’t attend in person, you can call 1-866-740-1260, access code 987-0031 to join in.

The consolidation of services from the departments to the SRCT is scheduled to take effect at the beginning of November 2009.

SRCT’s New Structure.

Under SRCT’s new structure, each department will be assigned a single SRCT manager to be their “go to” person. The SRCT manager will replace Management Services Officers, whom departments previously turned to for support.

Your department’s SRCT manager will provide a range of day-to-day operational assistance in the following areas:

  • Human resources operations
  • Financial operations
  • Procurement
  • Facility and space planning
  • Sensitive personnel matters
  • Large UCOP meetings and conferences

Each SCRT manager will be assisted by a pool of analysts and administrative support personnel who will be cross-trained in order to provide the range of services needed by departments. The combined skill sets will provide SRCT the ability to coordinate high-level strategic management services and operational support.
