10-Second Bio: Jose Pantoja

Name: Jose Pantoja
Title: Designer
Department/Unit: Communications
Location: Franklin, 12 th floor
How long I’ve been with UCOP: July 2001
What I do for OP in five words or less: Design all sorts of stuff.
The best part about working for OP: GO UCLA! GO BRUINS! In case you haven’t figured it out, I’m a UCLA alumnus. Attending UCLA was one of the best experiences of my life. When I landed this job at the UCOP I felt really great. This was my chance to contribute, in some way, to a great educational system. Another cool thing is my job is always changing from day to day. There is such a variety of design opportunities, ranging from annual reports to post cards to caricatures that I rarely do the same thing twice in a row. Now if I could only convince them to put a La-Z-Boy in my cube…
Something you don’t know about me: I love classic cars (domestic and foreign) and am restoring a 1971 Datsun 240Z and a 1976 280Z.

One weird fact about the town I grew up in: TOGO’s was founded in San Jose. I guess that’s only weird if you prefer Subway over TOGO’s.
If I could have any job in the world (besides the one I have now), I would be:
A concept artist at Pixar.
