Patricia Romero, Director of Capital Planning, to retire in June

Colleagues,

Patricia Romero, Director of Capital Planning, is planning to retire in
June 2011.

Pat has been with the University for nearly 32 years including 16 years
in Budget and Capital Resources in the Office of the President and seven
in Academic Affairs.  Pat began her career with the University at the
Irvine campus in career planning and placement, and served as Director
of Disabled Student Services for seven years.  She moved to the Office
of the President in 1987 to continue her student services work in
Student Academic Services.  In 1994, Pat moved to Budget and Capital
Resources to work on student fee issues and external relations for
capital projects.  Before being named Director of Capital Planning in
2009, Pat was Assistant Director for External Relations.

Pat will shift from full-time work to part-time work during the Spring
of 2011, and finalize her retirement in June 2011. While we anticipate
hiring a new director during this transition, this will be an important
transition time for our unit.  Pat’s part-time schedule will enable
others within the unit to glean additional knowledge and skills during
the Spring.

Pat’s retirement will be an enormous loss for Capital Resources
Management, but we wish her the best of health and happiness in her
retirement.  She has established a strong legacy that we can build upon.
