Resources, HR staff offer help with performance reviews

Visit the HR Performance Appraisal Resources website for a multitude of resources to help employees, supervisors and managers tackle this year’s performance reviews, which are due Sept. 16, 2011.

Resources include forms, guidelines, classes, FAQs and a link to the video of UCOP’s June 20 brown bag, which addressed questions about the process and expectations for this year’s reviews.

Employees can learn helpful tools for taking an active role in their own performance appraisal by enrolling in Employee Role in Performance Appraisal, offered at both Franklin and Kaiser this month.

The class focuses on creating a collaborative relationship with your supervisor and ensuring that the evaluation goes beyond an assessment to include a meaningful plan for professional development. Linda Klink, UCOP coordinator for learning and development, still has openings in two sessions, as follows:

  • Thursday, Aug. 4
, 9 to 11 a.m., 512 Kaiser
  • Tuesday, Aug. 9
, 1 to 3 p.m., 5320 Franklin

(Check the UC Learning Center for a condensed, 20-minute online version of the same class; to access it, go to the Learning Center home page and see the title listed under “Featured Classes for Employees.” Simply click on the title to launch the program.)

To register for any of the classroom sessions, log in to the UC Learning Center with your UCOP user name and password. Search by the class title and click REGISTER. Click on the check box to make your selection; then click SUBMIT to enroll.

Departments can also arrange for customized Performance Management training to help establish consistent practices and performance standards throughout the working unit. (See last week’s story on how three managers are implementing UCOP’s new performance management system.) Please contact Linda Klink at 510-987-0673 or linda.klink@ucop.edu for more details.
