Don’t miss your chance to get AED/CPR certification

If you are interested in automated external defibrillator and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (AED/CPR) certification, UCOP’s training sessions, which began this week, still have openings.

Registration is open to those interested in becoming certified or in recertifying. Act soon to reserve your spot, as each session is limited to 20 participants.

OP is fortunate to have so many staff trained in emergency response, including AED/CPR, first aid and floor wardens. These onsite emergency responders are a critical component of UCOP’s overall emergency plans.

The Office of the President established an AED/CPR program several years ago for Oakland-based staff. Such programs have been shown to dramatically improve the survivability of heart-attack victims.

The upcoming classes, offered through OP’s Office of Risk Services, are four-hour sessions that include training in the AED device and adult CPR. Those who successfully complete one session will receive certification valid for two years.

To register, please send an email to EHS@ucop.edu indicating your preference for one of the following sessions:

  • Thursday, Aug. 18, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Franklin Lobby One
