Welcome new Provost for Academic Affairs Aimée Dorr

Be sure to join the UCOP community in welcoming Aimée Dorr to the Office of the President at a reception on Monday, July 9, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the Franklin building fifth floor rooftop garden.

Dorr joined UCOP on Monday, July 2, as UC provost and executive vice president for Academic Affairs, succeeding Larry Pitts, who is retiring. In this role, she will serve as the university system’s chief academic officer and lead efforts to ensure the academic excellence of UC’s 10 campuses.

Dorr served as dean of UCLA’s Graduate School of Education and Information Studies (GSE&IS) since 1999 and professor of education there since 1981. She has also previously served on the faculties of Stanford, Harvard and the University of Southern California. She received her B.S. in mathematics from Stanford, where she also earned her M.A. and Ph.D. in psychology.

Provost Dorr is returning to 1111 Franklin St. for the second time in her career; she served as Academic Council chair the first year OP moved to this location.
