Valentine’s Day goodies that also do good, thanks to UCOP Pride

Get ready for the Valentine’s Day Supply Station, which will make an appearance at UCOP again this year to help us celebrate the day as well as raise funds for a local charity.

Sponsored by UCOP Pride, the station will be open for business Wednesday, Feb. 13, and Thursday, Feb. 14, between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. in the Franklin Lobby, making it a cinch for you to pick up some Valentine’s Day goodies for the loved ones in your life.

You’ll be able to purchase locally sourced roses, bagged sweets (including sugarless goodies) and other gift items, all at affordable prices (cash only, please):

  • goodie bags at $5 apiece
  • roses at $3 each or two for $5
  • goodie bag plus one rose at $7

All proceeds will go to the Lighthouse Community Center, a Hayward organization that provides a variety of services for members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex community.  It serves Southern Alameda County, including San Leandro, Castro Valley, Hayward, Union City, Newark, Niles, Fremont and beyond.

Last year the group raised $550 for Lavender Seniors of the East Bay, which offers social support services to improve the quality of life for older LGBT residents of Alameda and Contra Costa counties.

So visit the Valentine’s Day Supply Station and do good in more ways than one.
