If you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy, you may be interested in the class, Breastfeeding your Baby, which includes breastfeeding basics, problem solving and discussion on returning to work or school.

The class is offered today, Tuesday, April 23, 1:30 to 5 p.m. at UC Berkeley’s Tang Center, 2222 Bancroft Way. It is presented by UC Berkeley’s Breastfeeding Support Program and is open to UCOP staff and their spouses and domestic partners.

Instructor Laura Monin is an international board-certified lactation consultant, certified lactation educator, parent educator and experienced nursing mother.

The first part of the course (1:30 to 3:30 p.m.) covers breastfeeding basics and common problems. The second part (4 to 5 p.m.) covers issues surrounding return to work or school, including:

  • expression and storage of breast milk
  • time management
  • the use of handheld and electric breast pumps

Women who have previously attended a breastfeeding class or have established successful breastfeeding practices are welcome to join the second part of the class.
