Wednesday, Feb. 19: It’s easy to donate blood when Red Cross comes to UCOP

UCOP's Karen Vecchi donating blood

Karen Vecchi of UCOP’s Risk Services donated blood last December. The next drive will be held at UCOP on Wednesday, Feb. 19.

You can help save lives this Wednesday, Feb. 19, when the Red Cross bloodmobile returns to UCOP.

Severe winter weather in January and February has forced the cancellation of American Red Cross blood drives from coast to coast. More than 1,000 Red Cross blood drives in 34 states and Washington, D.C., have been canceled in recent weeks, resulting in about 35,000 uncollected blood and platelet donations.

Appointments are available from 8:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday. Schedule today by contacting Jan Kehoe at (510) 987-9692 or Jan.Kehoe@ucop.edu.

The bloodmobile will be located on 11th St., between Franklin and Webster Streets, in front of the East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) building. It’s just a half-block away from the Franklin building.

Go to the American Red Cross website to learn more about the donation process.
