Women in the Workplace: March 6 session at 1111 Broadway

Lean In book coverThe Lean In series of facilitated conversations about women’s empowerment in the workplace continues this Thursday, March 6, 12 to 1 p.m. in the Laurel Room, on the 7th floor of 1111 Broadway(The building is across the street from the Franklin building at the California Endowment.)

The series was inspired by the book Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead by Sheryl Sandberg, but you don’t need to read the book to participate. It is sponsored by the President’s Advisory Committee on the Status of Women (PACSW) and continues monthly through October.

The March topic is based on Sandberg’s fourth chapter, It’s a Jungle Gym, Not a Ladder. PACSW members Ginny Cox Delaney and Jenny Kao will facilitate the conversation. Among the topics for discussion are:

  • Your career: a jungle gym or a ladder?
  • How do you define success?
  • The value of an 18-month plan
  • Taking a risk

Check the PACSW website for dates for the remaining meetings and notes from previous sessions. You may register in advance for any or all of the events through the UC Learning Center to assure yourself a spot; just search for Lean In to enroll in the March 6 or any other session. Feel free to bring your lunch and join the conversation.
