Kick off the season at UCOP’s Winter Celebration, Thursday, Dec. 11

UCOP Singers

It’s that time of year again. The winter holidays and new year are just around the corner, which means UCOP is getting ready for another party.

This year’s event, the Winter Celebration, will be held Thursday, Dec. 11, so mark your calendars now. Look for some changes this year, based on staff input about parties past.

We’ll still have treats and turkeys and music and merrymaking, but the emphasis will be less on Christmas and more on community and inclusion. In keeping with that theme, plans are under way to organize a drive with an Oakland charity that will provide an opportunity to give back to the community. More details will be announced soon.

There will be no decoration competition this year, but all OP staff are still encouraged to decorate their personal spaces as well as create displays in public areas to add to the seasonal spirit. Be sure to check these safety guidelines before purchasing and planning your decorations.

On the big day, festivities will begin with morning treats at both Franklin and Kaiser locations from 8 to 9 a.m., with musical entertainment by violin duo Gregory Sykes and Margaret Wu from 8:15 to 8:30 a.m. in Franklin Lobby 1.

The party will continue at Franklin from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on three different floors, in Lobby 1, 5320 and the 12th-floor President’s Conference Room. All three locations will have beverages and bites both sweet and savory, including the famous fresh turkeys carved by UCOP leadership in Lobby 1. The UCOP Singers and Uke-Cs will also perform at 2:45 p.m. in Lobby 1.

Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks. If you’re interested in volunteering to staff events, please contact BRC Events Services Group at brcevents@ucop.edu.
