Management Skills Assessment Program: Call for nominations ends this Friday

UCOP employees looking to get valuable insight into their management abilities have until this Friday, Feb. 6 to apply for a spot in this spring’s Management Skills Assessment Program (MSAP).

The MSAP assesses the management skills of high potential, early career supervisors, managers and professionals for future leadership opportunities at the University of California. This year, UC is merging its Northern and Southern California programs to offer one integrated program that will include participants from across the UC system.

Applications are currently being accepted for the spring 2015 program, scheduled for April 20 to 23 at the UCLA Conference Center in Lake Arrowhead. Department heads are strongly recommended to discuss the program with their supervisors, managers and professionals who exhibit potential for management development and encourage them to apply.

Eligibility requirements for participants include:

  • full-time career status with a current, satisfactory (or better) performance evaluation; and
  • designation as a supervisor or manager.

UCOP is allotted two slots for the program. Participants will be selected based on an evaluation of their (1) career goals in management, (2) level of skills essential for performing management functions and (3) demonstrated career path and/or strong commitment to management skill development.

You can find more information on the MSAP website, including the 2015 application form (both applicant and supervisor components).

Program cost is $1,095, which includes program materials and a two-night hotel stay. Transportation costs, which are not included, will be charged to the departments of candidates selected to attend.

Completed applications must be submitted online by 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6.
