Kyndall Brown to speak on Common Core math today

Kyndall Brown Join the Office of Diversity and Engagement (formerly Education Partnerships) as it welcomes Kyndall Brown, executive director of the California Mathematics Project. Brown will discuss how the Common Core Standards for Mathematical Practice have the potential to provide access to mathematics for a more diverse groups of students.

The talk, which is entitled “Access, Equity and the Common Core in Math,”  will take place on April 21, noon to 1 p.m., in 11326 Franklin. Light refreshments will be served.

Brown is a graduate of the UCLA Graduate School of Education and Information Studies. His research centers on how the mathematics identities of African-American males impact their academic achievement.
