OP Staff Assembly call for event/program ideas

If you have an idea for a great brown bag or team-building event, the OP Staff Assembly Steering Committee would like to know.

“The committee would love to hear from employees about what kind of programs and events they would like to see offered at UCOP,” says chair Dan Scannell.

The people who come up with the four best ideas for an event or brown bag will get bragging rights and will also receive a staff assembly wineglass, and the committee will make the event happen!

The committee has received several suggestions, but there’s still time to contribute your two cents’ worth. They’ll be reviewing all ideas at their meeting tomorrow, June 10, at lunchtime.

Please submit your idea in one of the following methods, and don’t forget to include your name and a good outline or description of the event.

  • Send an email to OPSTAFFASSEMBLY@ucop.edu
  • Drop your idea in the boxes at one of the following locations:
Franklin Building – 5th Floor Kitchen
Kaiser Building – 7th Floor Kitchen
  • Fill in an online form

Keep in mind how your proposed event might relate to the mission of the OP Staff Assembly:

The OP Staff Assembly supports the mission of the University of California by encouraging communication between staff and senior administrators and other members of the university community on matters of interest to staff.

Assembly activities provide forums where staff at all levels can discuss university issues of mutual concern, and offer opinions and recommendations to OP’s senior administrators on policies, processes and programs. Our activities are modeled in support UCOP’s Principles of Community.

The steering committee hosted the well-attended Mardi Gras party at the Franklin building at the end of February. In the past they have been responsible for brown bags on subjects ranging from college applications to planning for retirement. The steering committee was also a key player in taking action on the results of the Staff Engagement Survey, which took place in 2012.
