More volunteers needed for Channel Park clean-up on April 23

Want to show your mother earth how much you love her?

On Saturday, April 23, UCOP staff can celebrate Earth Day by participating in a clean-up of Oakland’s Lake Merritt Channel Park from 9 a.m. to noon. A wildlife refuge, the park lies between Lake Merritt and the Oakland estuary and is a short walk from the Lake Merritt BART station.

By volunteering for just a few hours to remove invasive plants and pick up litter, you can make a meaningful contribution to the environment while enjoying community time with your co-workers. More hands mean more fun and lighter work! While we’re had some sign-ups, more volunteers are needed for this effort.

If you are interested in volunteering for this event sponsored by OP Staff Assembly, please contact Tracy.FitzGerald@ucop.edu. We encourage you to invite friends and family to join you.

Other upcoming events related to Earth Day:

During the First Friday breakfast @ Franklin on May 6, we will have students from UC Berkeley’s Student Environmental Resource Center on hand to talk about their sustainability projects.

Stay tuned for updates on more Earth Day celebrations!
