Nava was appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the University of California, effective Feb. 9, 2015. As COO, she oversees all aspects of operational management for the UC system. Her responsibilities include systemwide Human Resources, Information Technology Services, Energy and Sustainability, the UCPath Center, the Program Management Office, and all Administrative Services within the Office of the President. She is a third generation UC alumna and a graduate of UC Santa Cruz.

Prior to joining UC, she worked for over 10 years at Central California Alliance for Health, a $1 billion public non-profit health plan delivering health care services to underserved populations. As their Chief Operating Officer, she was responsible for ensuring that the managed care plan delivered innovative and high quality solutions in a complex delivery system. Nava has significant experience in the public sector working with government entities, lawmakers and the community and has spent most of her career working with underserved communities.

Nava’s talk is part of the Women We Admire series, initiated by the President’s Advisory Committee on the Status of Women (PACSW) in 2009. PACSW brings women to UCOP from around the system to share insights about their careers, workplace challenges and work-life balance. All members of the UCOP community are invited to learn how to make the most of working at UC.
