WEDNESDAY: Celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Lights, at APISA potluck

Last year’s Diwali celebration was very popular.

Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, is a major holiday observed by Hindus, Sikhs and Jains in India and around the world. This fall event celebrates the power of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair. During the festival, traditional earthen candles called diyas are lit, and homes are decorated with colorful lights and rangoli (patterns created on the floor with colored rice or powder). It is a special time to celebrate with friends, family and neighbors.

All UCOP staff is invited to celebrate and learn about this holiday at APISA’s second annual Diwali potluck:

Date: Wednesday, Oct. 25
Time: 12 to 1 p.m.
Location: Kaiser 1217

Last year’s party was very well-attended, so come and enjoy the camaraderie of your colleagues. There will be plenty of food, but bring food or beverages to share if you like.
