Year-end reminders: January pay date, W-2s, W-4s, Flexible Spending Accounts

As 2017 comes to a close, here are some important reminders and announcements related to your pay, taxes and benefits. Some may require action on your part.

Sign up for your electronic W-2

The deadline for requesting an electronic W-2 for your 2017 tax information is Jan. 12, 2018. If you haven’t already done so, you can sign up to receive an electronic W-2 by visiting the UCPath portal and clicking on “Income and Taxes.” Then, select “Enroll to Receive Online W-2.”

If “Your Current Status” says CONSENT RECEIVED then you don’t have to do anything – you’re already signed up for the electronic statement.

Once you’ve signed up, all notification pertaining to your W-2/W-2c will be sent to your preferred email address on file in the UCPath system.

Submit a new W-4 by Dec. 1 if you have changes

It’s recommended that you submit a new Form W-4 by Dec. 1 if your marital status or withholding allowances have changed or will change for the next year. The IRS provides a Withholding Calculator to help you determine if you need to submit a new W-4. You can find it at https://www.irs.gov/individuals/irs-withholding-calculator.

Visit the UCPath portal and click on “Income and Taxes” and then “Federal Withholding (W-4)” to review your status or make any changes.

January pay dates for December 2017 earnings

  • For employees paid monthly, the pay date for December 2017 earnings will be Jan. 2, 2018.
  • For employees paid biweekly, the first pay date of 2018 will be Jan. 10, 2018.

Flexible Savings Account (FSA) funds

Remember to use your FSA funds as required or those funds may be lost. For more information, click here.

New! View your pay statement ahead of payday

You can now review your pay statement on UCPath two days before payday. This new feature applies to all UCOP staff, whether you are paid monthly or biweekly.
