New energy-efficient lighting boosts security at UCOP’s Franklin Building

Though it’s not top of mind during the long days of summer, good lighting is an important part of keeping our workplace secure. To ensure that UCOP staff have adequate lighting as they travel to or from the Franklin Building at the end of the day, UCOP Building Services has added 16 new LED lights on the 11th Street, Franklin Street and 12th Street sides of the building.

In compliance with LEED guidelines, the new lighting is highly energy-efficient, turns off when exposed to daylight, and points down instead of up to minimize light pollution. If you have questions about the new lighting, or concerns or recommendations about building security to share, please contact Matthew Leet at Matthew.Leet@ucop.edu.
