Join APISA to celebrate the 2019 Lunar New Year on Jan. 29

Happy Lunar New Year! All UCOP staff is invited to the Asian Pacific Islander Staff Association’s (APISA) annual potluck to celebrate the Year of the Pig.

This year’s celebration will feature a talk by Diana Zheng, author of Jia! The Food of Swatow and the Teochew Diaspora, about the Teoswa community of southern China and its culinary traditions.

  • Time: 12 – 1 p.m.
  • Location: Franklin 5320

It is suggested, though not required, to bring a dish to share.

Lunar New Year is an event that is celebrated by Asians around the world. The Vietnamese call it Tet and the Chinese call it the spring festival. There are many traditions and rituals associated with this event, such as wearing new clothing or the color red to symbolize the beginning of a new year and to attract good luck.
