Changes to UCOP career track salary ranges

In response to the 2017 California State Audit, Systemwide Compensation and UCOP Human Resources commissioned an external market analysis by an independent consulting firm to evaluate the market-competitiveness of UCOP’s and OGC’s career track salary ranges.

Based on this review, salary ranges were adjusted as follows, effective April 1, 2019:

  • The midpoints of salary ranges were increased by 8 percent
  • The minimums and maximums of all salary ranges were narrowed, in order to more closely match the salary range structures of our higher education comparators

These kinds of adjustments do not automatically affect an employee’s current compensation but are used when making compensation decisions during the employee’s tenure.

The narrowing of the ranges will affect a very small group of staff. Employees whose salaries fall below the new ranges will be moved into the new ranges and their pay will be increased accordingly. These employees will receive letters outlining the details of their pay changes within the next couple of weeks. No employee will see a reduction in pay as a result of these changes.

You can find answers to common questions about these changes on the UCOP HR website.

If you have questions, please contact Jonas Lerma or your HR business partner.
