This September, The National Women’s Hall of Fame will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote, by hosting a weekend in New York to honor the achievements of American women in the birthplace of the country’s Women’s Rights movement.

The highlight of the weekend will be the induction of 10 prominent women into the Hall of Fame for their historic achievements. UC Santa Cruz Distinguished Professor Emerita Angela Davis will be among those women receiving this honor.

Through her activism and scholarship over many decades, Davis has been deeply involved in movements for social justice around the world. Her work as an educator — both at the university level and in the larger public sphere — has always emphasized the importance of building communities in pursuit of economic, racial and gender justice. Her work has inspired fellow activists around the world.
