2019 Annual UCOP Fire Safety and Security Report

The following message from Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief of Staff to the President Rachael Nava was distributed to UCOP staff on Oct. 1:

Dear UCOP Colleagues,

This is to inform you of the availability of the annual fire safety and security reports regarding the UCOP community. By way of background, each UC location is required to compile an annual security report and an annual fire security report pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Act.

The UC Berkeley campus provides law enforcement for the UCOP offices in Oakland as well as for employees at UCDC. Consequentially, crime statistics for those locations are included in the UC Berkeley Annual Fire Safety & Security Reports (AFSSR). The UC Davis Annual Security/Fire Safety Report (ASFSR) includes data on the UC Center, Sacramento, which is an affiliated location. UCOP employees at the UCPath Center in Riverside are not affected by the Clery Act, so no specific data for that location is included.

I invite you to take a moment and familiarize yourself with this information, and use it to learn more about the many safety and security services and resources available at UCOP locations:

Each report contains statistics for 2016, 2017 and 2018 of reported crimes that occurred at UC locations, in certain other buildings owned or controlled by the university and on public property within or immediately adjacent to UC locations. The reports also include information about UC security policies, including those related to missing student notifications, alcohol and drug use, sexual and gender violence, crime prevention and the reporting of crimes.
