Don’t miss last public demo on new UCOP budget tool

All staff are invited to attend the final public demonstration of UCOP’s new budgeting tool next Monday, Oct. 24, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in Franklin’s Lobby One Conference Room.

The tool, Cognos TM1, is a web-based budget and planning software developed by IBM that will provide a common platform for UCOP departments and Budget Office staff to develop their budgets beginning with fiscal year 2012–13.

It’s all part of the Budget Development System (BDS), which has been under development for the past year to standardize budgeting across UCOP. The goal is to ensure greater consistency and efficiency and introduce a new set of procedures, best practices and roles and responsibilities around the budgeting process.

Potential users of the new budgeting tool (those who will enter, review and approve budget data) have received invitations to register for full-day training sessions in November and December. If you have questions, please contact Pei-Ru Chao at Pei-Ru.Chao@ucop.edu.

For more details on the Budget Development System, see the story in Link‘s Sept. 20 issue.
