Women We Admire: Barbara Allen-Diaz speaks Dec. 1

Barbara Allen-Diaz, vice president of UC’s Agriculture and Natural Resources (ANR), will appear in Franklin’s Lobby One Conference Room on Thursday, Dec. 1, at 12 p.m.

The event is part of the Women We Admire Speaker Series, sponsored by the President’s Advisory Committee on the Status of Women (PACSW), which invites women from across the UC system to share their insights about careers, workplace challenges and work-life balance.

As ANR vice president, Allen-Diaz leads the university’s research and outreach activities in food systems, environmental sciences, family and consumer sciences, forestry, community development, 4-H youth development and related areas. She is also a professor in UC Berkeley’s Department of Environmental Science, Policy and Management.

Allen-Diaz was among 2,000 scientists recognized for their work on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), when the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded jointly to the IPCC and Vice President Al Gore in 2007. Her work for the IPCC focused on the effects of climate change on rangeland species and landscapes.

PACSW’s Women We Admire events, initiated in 2009, are open to all staff. If you cannot attend, listen by phone at 866-740-1260 and enter access code 722-6879. Past talks are archived on the Women We Admire website.
