Celebrate Asian–Pacific American Heritage May 31

Don’t miss “Go for Broke,” a presentation that celebrates May as Asian–Pacific American Heritage Month, this Friday, May 31, 12 to 1 p.m. in Franklin Lobby 1 Conference Room.

Office of the General Counsel (OGC) Attorney Nicole Craig will present a brown bag on the Varsity Victory Volunteers of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team. The event is sponsored by the OGC Diversity Committee.

Rising to the defense of a country that viewed them with suspicion and sent their families to concentration camps, the young Nisei (second-generation Japanese) from Hawaii who formed the 442nd Regiment took up arms and fought with fierce determination during World War II. The regiment is considered the most decorated infantry regiment in the history of the U.S. Army.

Craig will share the story of her friend Toshio, a member of the 442nd who was recently awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.
