UC wins Skillsoft Innovation Award for Excellence in Talent Management

Skillsoft, a global leader in learning and talent management, has chosen UC as a 2016 Innovation Award winner for demonstrating excellence in “Creating an Impact in Higher Education.” Presented at the 2016 Global Skillsoft Perspectives user conference on May 11, the award recognizes UC for using education to communicate nuanced concepts to 500,000 students, faculty and staff in order to drive cultural and behavioral change.

Vice President of Systemwide Human Resources Dwaine B. Duckett said, “It is an honor to have our efforts related to our systemwide human resources strategy acknowledged by our esteemed peers. UC Systemwide Talent Management’s use of tools and technology to innovate and build upon our workforce development capabilities is key to our comprehensive integrated talent and human resources strategy.”

Executive Director of Talent Management and Staff Development Donna Salvo and Talent Management Program Analystics Lead Jayme Mogen accepted the award on behalf of UC. Salvo said the award highlights UC’s progress in “integrating talent management into the life cycle of our employees,” including a stronger focus on developing staff as leaders. Along with mandatory training on topics like cybersecurity and sexual harassment, UC staff enjoys convenient online access to development options ranging from software skills to health and wellness to performance management. With 18,000 e-courses available, systemwide usage totals up to 330,000 unique users per year, including staff, faculty, contractors and student employees. Efforts continue to make UC training as accessible as possible, given the range of delivery options, from classroom sessions to e-courses viewed on small mobile devices.

“This year’s Innovation Award winners are not only transforming their organizational culture, but setting the pace for how learning, talent and workforce management contribute to overall business success,” said Jerry Nine, chief operating officer at Skillsoft. “Skillsoft and SumTotal are proud to collaborate with our customers to make their forward-looking vision and values into tangible business outcomes.”

Perspectives 2016 brought together 1,200 HR professionals and industry experts from organizations around the world to share insights on how to improve organizational performance by improving the performance of an organization’s people. The awards were judged by an independent panel of thought leaders including subject matter experts and analysts at IDC, Bersin by Deloitte, Brandon Hall Group, the Center for Talent Reporting, Aptitude Research, Laci Loew & Company, Human Capital Media, Elearning! Magazine, Training Industry, and Skillsoft and SumTotal.
