DESCRIPTION:This is a three-part series\, Project Management Level I\, led by The Center for Project Management. \nThis workshop series emphasizes the fundamentals of how to initiate\, create and manage a project. \nSession 1: Initiating a Project\nThis course helps students to recognize the critical importance of having a clear\, shared understanding of a project at the outset by creating a comprehensive project charter\, or the decision document that authorizes the project to move into detailed planning\, and designates the project manager. \n\nDefine the purpose of the project and its business value\nDefine the project’s objectives\, assumptions and constraints\nUnderstand how the project is linked to other projects and activities\nDefine the high level project scope\nDefine how the project success will be measured\nIdentify warning signs to watch for as the project is executed\nIdentify the project stakeholders and determine their priorities and their impact on the project\nAssess the complexity of the project in both business and technical dimensions\nUnderstand the pivotal importance of a well-prepared project charter.\n\nMust attend all three sessions: \n\nSession 1: Wednesday\, November 2\, 8:30am -12:30pm\nSession 2: Wednesday\, November 9\, 8:30am -12:30pm\nSession 3: Wednesday\, November 16\, 8:30am -12:30pm
