SUMMARY:March with UCOP Pride at Oakland LGBTQ+ Pride 2024
DESCRIPTION:UCOP employees\, friends and family are invited to march with the UCOP Pride employee resource group’s contingent in the Oakland LGBTQ+ Pride Parade on Sunday\, September 8\, from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm. Join us as we march through downtown Oakland to show UC’s commitment to advancing freedom\, justice and equity for LGBTQIA people and for building a future where everyone is free to be their entire selves in every aspect of their lives. \nEveryone who joins us at the march will receive a T-shirt to wear in the parade (plenty of shirts are available)! \nRegister to march in the Oakland Pride parade! \nOakland Pride will provide OP Pride with a specified time to form up prior to the start. OP Pride will inform all participants by email closer to the date of the march. \nWhy We March \nPride events are about human rights; they empower LGBTQIA individuals to reclaim the rights and freedoms they are denied\, and the public space they are often excluded from. Visibility is crucial\, especially when opposition groups and federal\, state and local governments are going to considerable lengths to put LGBTQIA people at the margins of society. Pride Marches are important because they change hearts and minds. For more\, read 5 reasons why Prides matter from Amnesty International. \nAbout UCOP Pride \nUCOP Pride is dedicated to providing advocacy\, education and community-building for the lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, transgender\, queer\, intersex\, genderqueer and non-binary community\, and its allies\, within UCOP and beyond. UCOP Pride works to build community and solidarity among LGBTQIA staff and allies at UCOP\, engage and inspire LGBTQIA individuals who work at UCOP\, achieve greater inclusivity for the LGBTQIA community at UCOP and increase resources and broaden the base of support for LGBTQIA communities by improving UCOP’s awareness and understanding of LGBTQIA issues\, needs and opportunities. Let there be Pride! \nThanks\, and please let me know if you have any questions or need additional information.

SUMMARY:Creating an Inclusive Culture: Intergenerational Collaborative Work Teams
DESCRIPTION:In today’s workforce there are 5 generations that work alongside each other. Each generation\, from youngest to oldest\, spans 83 years\, and includes values\, assets\, and viewpoints that enhance organizations\, and enrich culture. While there is great benefit to organizations that experience this diversity\, this array of experiences and talent can also create its challenges. This workshop is designed to define and understand culture within teams\, identify the invisible strengths of each generation and how they contribute to the team dynamic\, identify silent team “killers”\, and develop methods to shape a diverse\, and inclusive team grounded in equity. \nRegister in the UC Learning Center \nQuestions? SUMMARY:People Leader Forum - Designated Home Location
DESCRIPTION:The People Leader Forum is a monthly opportunity for people managers to connect with one another to develop leadership skills\, build community\, share best practices\, swap strategies for navigating current challenges and learn to better support themselves and their teams. \nSeptember 20: Designated Home Location Procedures and Policies – The Interim UCOP Employee Headquarters Location Procedure is intended to address the determination of Employee Headquarters Location used for the application of UC Policy G-28 Travel Regulations. The interim procedure has been developed in response to the significant change in the employee work arrangements since 2020 and the resulting need for local procedure to provide criteria for determining employee headquarters location\, specifically for employees who work remotely. The procedure will also allow certain positions to receive exceptional approval for a temporary assignment of a designated headquarters location (DHL). \n2024 PLF Topics: \n\nOctober 18: Equity Process Review\n\nRegister in the UC Learning Center \nQuestions?
