SUMMARY:Leading Across Difference: Understanding Self\, Understanding Leadership - Session 1
DESCRIPTION:This is a 2-session training experience focusing on disrupting racial bias and anti-blackness\, increasing awareness of institutional\, structural\, and systemic inequity through race\, and applying this information to increase leadership skills at all levels. Leaders will examine the ways in which their own biases have a huge structural impact while engaging in discussions and that will shed light on leadership growth areas. This training is based on the facilitator’s Authentic Leadership model which moves participants from theoretical concepts to context-driven practice; to that end\, leaders will be challenged to implement systemic and leadership change within their context as a concrete deliverable. Given the transformative\, sensitive\, and often painful content around racism\, this training embeds facilitative social-emotional best practices to create a supportive environment.  Participants will: \n\nBuild a foundational understanding of historical and social foundations of structural racism and anti-blackness in America.\nIncrease leadership skills towards improved relational outcomes with colleagues and direct reports. \nGrapple with the question: “Who do I need to become to radically shift my leadership?” \nCreate a learning community of leaders better equipped to transform workplace culture.\n\nParticipants must attend both sessions from 10am-12pm PT on Friday\, May 10 and 17 to receive credit for the course.

SUMMARY:UC Celebrates Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD)
DESCRIPTION:UC Celebrates Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) Event – Putting Together the Accessibility Puzzle Pieces  \nWhether you are starting your journey or want to keep up with digital accessibility trends\, the UC GAAD Webinar\, May 16\, 2024\, from 10:00-11:30 AM Pacific Time\, will help you put together the accessibility puzzle. \nEnjoy a short panel on what some of our leaders are doing on their campus. Then\, during a series of lightning talks\, UC staff members will share some practical skills\, talk about the importance of digital accessibility\, and answer your questions. This year’s event will also feature a demonstration of how everyone can have a fun-filled life when technology is accessible. Best of all\, you will have a great time! \nThe UC Community has been estimated at over 2\,535\,409 alumni\, staff\, students\, and faculty. Together\, our work reaches the world with its impact. The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that 16% of the world is living with a disability [who.int]. That’s over 1 billion people. \nIf that weren’t enough\, it is projected that 1 in every 3 people will experience either a permanent or temporary disability in the next 10 years. Come and learn how to make our UC digital environments and experiences more accessible. \nIt can’t just be a job for the few to work on; it’s an important part of UC’s equity and inclusion core values. Let’s celebrate this mission as one UC community. \nHere are some of the amazing topics you will learn about: \n\nAccessibility updates from selected UC campuses\nJill Wolters (UCSF) – Accessible PowerPoint tips & tricks\nRachel Leigh Bellofatto (UCM) – Accessibility in the classroom\nBrian McNeilly (UCOP) – Leading laterally\n\nCome and pick up the accessibility puzzle pieces you might be missing. Together\, we can help create a better world for all. \nExplore past years’ GAAD webinars on the Electronic Accessibility Committee website. \n  \nRegister in advance for this webinar \nAfter registering\, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar. \nThe webinar will be live-captioned\, provide American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation\, and will be recorded. \nPlease submit any accommodations requests to infohelp@ucop.edu no later than Monday\, May 13\, 2024. \nSponsored by the UC Electronic Accessibility Committee.
