SUMMARY:Brown bag: Navigating Through Uncertainty
DESCRIPTION:OP Staff Assembly (OPSA)\, during this time of change\, is hosting a brown bag focusing on how to navigate through the uncertainty that we face with organizational change. \nPaula Trejo-Phillips\, a psychologist from UCSF who also supports OP staff as a part of the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program\, will be discussing “Navigating Through Uncertainty: Cultivating a successful way through transitions.” \nThe focus of the talk will be sharing ideas about perceptions\, how we work through transitions and psychological and emotional aspects of change.  We will look at what adaptive measures we can take to minimize the symptoms of distress that transitions can bring about as well as explore the role of resilience as a process for adapting in the face of adversity. \nBefore embarking on her career as a psychologist\, Trejo-Phillips worked at UC and in the biotech and medical device fields in the areas of benefits and human resources.  She completed both her pre-doctoral and post-doctoral training at UCSF and also worked at the UCSF Trauma Recovery Center. Dr. Trejo-Phillips’ experience includes providing bilingual (Spanish) outpatient psychotherapy with a specialization in trauma\, community and domestic violence and abuse. She has also worked with adolescents\, college students\, working adults\, torture survivors\, asylum seekers\, and the homeless in school based and clinic/agency settings. Her areas of specialty include the psychological sequelae of trauma and torture\, PTSD\, anxiety\, depression\, multiculturalism\, coping with chronic medical illness\, and end of life issues. In addition\, she is interested in the intersections of work and life and managing the psychosocial stressors inherent in each.
