DESCRIPTION:Graduate\, Undergraduate and Equity Affairs (GUEA) is proud to welcome Dr. Eddie Cole of UCLA. Dr. Cole is the acclaimed author of The Campus Color Line: College Presidents and the Struggle for Black Freedom (Princeton University Press\, 2020). Some of America’s most pressing civil rights issues — desegregation\, equal educational and employment opportunities\, housing discrimination and free speech — have been closely intertwined with higher education institutions. Cole will discuss how the work of college presidents helped forge\, and continues to inform\, the path to racial equity in education. Advance registration is required. A Q&A will follow the presentation. GUEA will be giving away copies of Dr. Cole’s book shortly after the event. Winners will be contacted separately.
