Our Lived Realities of Being Viewed As a Threat.” The book explores the impact of policing on African Americans and on communities of color\, through the lens of her family’s problematic experiences with law enforcement. Nickerson and her husband\, former NFL player and coach Hardy Nickerson\, are UC Berkeley alumni.
