UC will ask the Regents to raise employee UCRP contributions to 6.5 percent of covered salary, effective July 1, 2013, under a proposal to be considered at the November Regents meeting. UC would contribute 12 percent.

Fourteen UC members have been elected to the Institute of Medicine, one of the highest honors in the fields of health and medicine. They join 65 new members, five foreign associates and more than 200 UC-affiliated members who have been named since 1970.
UCSF Chancellor Susan Desmond-Hellmann is drawing national attention for her work and her vision for UCSF. She was featured this month in a New York Times profile and video interview.

The UCOP Wellness Program is sponsoring a food drive from Oct. 24 to 28 to benefit the Alameda County Food Bank. The drive coincides with National Food Day, encouraging Americans to “eat real” and support healthy and sustainable foods.

The proposed Phased Retirement Program offers staff an incentive to reduce their work hours by 10 percent per year for up to three years before retiring. Employee comments on the program will be taken until 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18.
