Hurry! Back-to-school supplies drive ends this Thursday

It’s almost back-to-school time! Can you help the children at Oakland’s ASCEND K-8 school with a simple donation?
Right now ASCEND teachers buy many classroom supplies out of their own pockets. We’re going to help remove that burden by holding a school supplies drive from Aug. 15 to 18. This drive is sponsored by the Asian Pacific Islander Staff Association (APISA), the OP Professional Community (OPPC) and the Family Resource Network (FRN).
If you’d like to help out, all you need to do is buy one or more of the school supplies from the list below. (New/unopened items only, please.) Just shop and drop your items off at work. If only algebra had been this easy!
Donation boxes will be set up in the Franklin building on all floors, near the elevators and in the lobby. At the Kaiser building, the donation box will be located on the 6th floor near the elevators. For the 20th St. building, the box will be in the lobby.
Items that are needed:
- Pencils and pens
- Colored pencils
- Whiteboard markers in all colors
- Regular markers (like Crayola)
- Highlighters
- Copy paper
- Post-It notes
- 3×5 index cards
- Staplers and staples
- Clear tape and dispensers
- Two-pocket folders
- Clear sheet protectors
- Hand sanitizer
- Kleenex
- Clorox wipes
- Blue masking tape
