Matt A. Barreto, Professor of Political Science and Chicana/o Studies and Faculty Co-Director of the Latino Policy and Politics Initiative (LPPI) at UCLA. Join us for coffee and conversation with Professor Matt A. Barreto. He’ll discuss his work in voting and voting rights and in particular share his thoughts on the “Latino Vote” in 2020 and look ahead to future elections.

Prof. Barreto’s research examines the political participation of racial and ethnic minorities in the U.S., and he has taught various courses on racial and ethnic politics, the Voting Rights Act, elections, statistics, and American politics. He has published nearly 50 peer-reviewed research articles, chapters and books that examine Latino public opinion, voting behavior, and racial politics in America.

He is a co-founder of the research and polling firm LD Insights, LLC and previously co-founded the research firm Latino Decisions. Time Magazine called Barreto’s work the “gold-standard in Latino American polling.” Huffington Post said Barreto was “the pollster that has his finger on the pulse of the Latino electorate.” In 2020 Barreto was hired by the Joe Biden presidential campaign to direct polling and focus group research for Latino voters.
