Open Enrollment events include VSP eyeglasses drive
As part of Open Enrollment 2012, UC is participating in Eyes of Hope, an eyewear donation program sponsored by Vision Service Plan (VSP), UC’s vision care provider.
The program is designed to boost awareness of the importance of eye health and provide a convenient opportunity for UC employees systemwide to participate in an important outreach effort. Since its inception in 2008, Eyes of Hope has collected and distributed more than 75,000 pairs of glasses to those in need across the globe.
UCOP staff can find collection boxes in Franklin’s fifth floor lunchroom and in the Kaiser Building on tables outside the large conference rooms on the fifth and twelfth floors. Please drop any used or outdated prescription glasses, readers and sunglasses in these boxes.
VSP will then clean and refurbish the donated eyewear for distribution through missions worldwide to the more than one billion people who don’t have access to or can’t afford eyewear. Go to the VSP website to find out more about the program.
