UC purchases Riverside building to house UCPath Center

The University of California has purchased a building in Riverside to house operations and customer service for the new UCPath Center. The building is located at 14350 Meridian Parkway in the Meridian Business Park, southeast of the UC Riverside campus.
UCPath is the university’s program to deploy a single payroll and human resources system across all 10 campuses and five medical centers to meet the core needs of each location while capturing the efficiencies, improved data and cost-savings associated with unified systems. A key component of the project is the UCPath Center, a shared service center to process payroll and deliver services to UC employees and HR professionals.
When the UCPath Center opens on July 1, 2013, it will serve the employees of UCLA, UCLA Medical Center, UC Merced, UC Santa Cruz and UCOP. Remaining UC locations will begin using UCPath in two additional waves in 2014, and all UC locations and employees will be using UCPath by October 2014.
The three-story, 150,000+-square-foot building was completed in 2008 and is gold-certified for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) by the U.S. Green Building Council. LEED-certified buildings are designed to reduce energy and water consumption while being safer and healthier for the occupants.
“This new facility gives UCPath the physical infrastructure it needs to be successful,” said UCPath Director Tony Lo. “With both modern technology and a brand new building, UCPath Center employees will have the tools they need to provide outstanding service to employees at all UC locations for years to come.”
The UCPath Center will initially occupy the first floor while the third floor is being equipped and furnished. In 2014, the UCPath Center will move to the top floor, and the university will lease any surplus space in the building to other tenants.
Approximately 156 employees will work in the UCPath Center when it opens next summer. By the time the UCPath Center is fully operational in 2014, it is projected that it will employ up to 500 employees in operations, customer service, quality management, technology and business operations.
The university will begin recruiting for UCPath Center jobs this month. In the meantime, job descriptions for all positions, as well as more information can be found on the UCPath website.
UCPath is part of the Working Smarter program, which aims to increase UC’s operational efficiency while directing long-term savings to the university’s mission of teaching, research and public service.
