November 2012 issue of Senate Source now available
The November 2012 issue of The Senate Source, the quarterly online publication for UC faculty published by UC’s Systemwide Academic Senate, is now available. This month’s features include:
Senate Considers Open Access Publishing Policy. The Academic Senate is reviewing the second proposal in five years for a systemwide open access policy that proponents say will help disseminate UC faculty research publications and address the rising cost of journal subscriptions.
Faculty Encouraged to Participate in Nation’s Largest Campus Climate Survey. UC faculty can help improve the social climate of their campuses by participating in what will be the largest campus climate survey ever conducted in the United States.
Regent to Faculty: We Need your Best Ideas! At an Oct. 24 visit with the Academic Council, Regent Bruce Varner urged UC faculty to help the Board of Regents identify solutions to the university’s funding crisis.
Notes from Academic Senate Chair Robert Powell. 2012-13 Chair Powell reflects on the budget crisis and other issues before the senate and the university this year.
