Are you in compliance? Compliance Week 2013 through May 10

UCOP’s Office of Ethics, Compliance and Audit Services (ECAS) celebrates National Compliance and Ethics Week this week, with a May 9 webinar on the Clery Act and tabling every morning at Franklin.

The goal is to elevate awareness throughout the UCOP community about the work ECAS does every day to help ensure that the university earns the public trust by maintaining an ethical environment and complying with state and federal laws and regulations.

ECAS will staff the information booth every morning from 8 to 9 a.m. in the Franklin lobby, offering giveaways, a compliance spin-the-wheel game, handouts on the UC Whistleblower policy and more.

On Thursday, May 9, 2 to 3 p.m. (PDT), join Pamela Roskowski, UC coordinator of Police Services and UCSF chief of police, for a webinar on the Clery Act. That’s the federal law that requires educational institutions to report crime statistics on and near campus and provide timely safety and crime information to the campus community.

Also upcoming are several webinars in May and June, including one by UCOP’s Export Control Officer Brian Warshawsky, entitled “Ten Things to Know before Taking your Laptop Overseas,” Wednesday, May 15, 10 to 11 a.m. (PDT). Other upcoming topics include immigration-related practices, visual compliance training and emerging health care issues. (Registration details on upcoming webinars can be found on the ECAS webinar website.)

To join any of the webinars, go to ReadyTalk at the scheduled time and enter the access code 987-0966 in the “Join a Conference” field; then dial 866-740-1260 and, again, enter 987-0966 as your access code.

Past webinars are also archived on the ECAS webinar website. For questions about Compliance Week activities, contact Tim Mulshine at tim.mulshine@ucop.edu.
