10-Second Bio: Sally J. Gibbons Philbin

Title: Manager-HR Compliance

Department/Unit: Human Resources; HR Compliance

Location: Kaiser Building

When I started working at UCOP: 1985

What I do for OP in five words or less: Help protect University family.

The best part about working for OP: Working for an organization that has allowed me to grow professionally while being associated with some of the best people I have ever met.

Something you don’t know about me: I am a direct descendant of Richard Warren who came over on the Mayflower.

One weird fact about the town I grew up in: I grew up in Manteca, CA. Weird: The town name would have been “Monteca” except that the railroad misspelled it  and it stuck. (Manteca means “lard” in Spanish.) Interesting: Patricia Noriko Miranda (born June 11, 1979 in Manteca, CA) is the first American woman in Olympic history to receive a medal in woman’s wrestling at the 2004 Summer Olympic games in Athens, Greece.

If I could have any job in the world (besides the one I have now), I would be: I would like to work full time for non-profit organizations that give back to their communities.
