Backsafe and Sittingsafe this Friday: Spaces still available

If you sit at a desk and use a computer most of the workday, you might benefit from two classes being offered this Friday, March 15, on using proper body mechanics and correct posture in your daily work routine to prevent strain and injury.

There are still openings available in both of these two-hour workshops designed for office professionals, coming to UCOP’s Franklin and Kaiser locations.

Backsafe®, March 15, 9 to 11 a.m., 8112 Franklin

This injury prevention program uses specialized videos, active stretching and customized, job-based “obstacle course” exercises to teach you how to perform your job in a biomechanically correct manner. It will break your bad habits and replace them with proper body mechanics and self-management techniques.

Sittingsafe®, March 15, 1 to 3 p.m., 712 Kaiser

This job-specific ergonomics workshop is designed to reduce office-based injuries and avoid repetitive strain injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome. It includes hands-on stretching routines to eliminate unwanted physical stress as well as a practical learning module to teach you how to adapt any workstation to be ergonomically correct for your body.
