Sara Hoda is a UCSC alum that died in the fire. I supervised her volunteer work when I worked at the campus Student Volunteer Center. She was such a lovely person, always putting others first. It’s very difficult to find people like that anymore. I took her and 19 other students to New Orleans to do Hurricane Katrina relief work and she was often a voice of reason among the crew. Her gentle, sweet demeanor was a comfort to many and she could effortlessly cross barriers to find common ground with you.

Sara will be dearly missed, especially by her mother Fatima. If you would like know ways to help Sara and her family, contact me.
