10-Second Bio: Jane Schnorrenberg, dancer

Name: Jane Schnorrenberg

Title: Executive Assistant

Department/Unit: Office of the Chief Financial Officer

Location: Franklin Building

When I started working at UCOP: June 2012. Started at UC Berkeley in 2004.

What I do for OP in five words or less: Schedule meetings, re-schedule, schedule again.

The best part about working for OP: My awesome boss and team!

Something you don’t know about me: My dance career began when I was seven years old, when an anonymous donor offered to pay for five years of lessons at the Santa Rosa Ballet School. I later learned that the anonymous donor had worked with my mom in the laundry department of Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital and wanted to help me pursue my love of dance. I studied ballet, joining a professional dance company at 16. I earned my B.A. in Dance from Mills College where I discovered modern dance, and an M.F.A. in Theater Arts/Choreography from UC Davis. I went on to perform and tour with a number of companies. I’ve also served on the board of the Shawl-Anderson Dance Center in Berkeley, and I’ve contributed to student scholarships. I knew what it felt like to really want to dance but not have enough money to, so I wanted to help a new generation of dancers. And…I am performing at the end of this month (Oct. 26–28) in San Francisco with the Sarah Bush Dance Project. For information about the show, go to: https://sarahbushdance.org/spirit-and-bones/

One weird fact about the town I grew up in: Charles Schultz of Snoopy fame lived there. I took ballet classes with his daughters!

Thanks for sharing, Jane! Good luck with your performances this weekend, I’m sorry I can’t attend. So fun to find out about our co-workers “hidden” talents!
