Women We Admire: Sherwynn Umali of UC Irvine
On March 28, the President’s Advisory Committee on the Status of Women (PACSW) is pleased to welcome Sherwynn Umali for a special presentation at UCOP, as part of the Women We Admire series.
Umali, who joined the UC Irvine Student Life and Leadership team in July 2013, is the campus’s interim assistant vice chancellor and chief of staff for student affairs. She oversees Communications and Special Programs, chairs the All-University Leadership Conference, serves as program director of the Administrative Internship Program — where she teaches MGMT198 in the Paul Merage School of Business — and oversees staff development and information technology for Student Life and Leadership.
Umali is a proud alumna of UC Irvine, where she received a dual bachelor’s degree in psychology and social behavior paired with studio art. She went on to earn her master’s degree in education, leadership and policy studies from the University of Maryland, College Park.
In addition to her robust professional career, Umali is a mother of two young children and performs freelance graphic design, photography and consulting work. Her dedication to UC and devotion to her many passions outside the university truly make her worthy of admiration.
