The seeds that bring fresh veggies to life

Did you know that most vegetables are annuals and need to be started every year from seeds? In a fascinating video, UC Agriculture and Natural Resources (ANR) explores the science and processes that keep our food system vibrant.  

Seed biologist Kent Bradford, professor at the UC Davis Department of Life Sciences and director of the UC Davis Seed Biotechnology Center, shares his expertise around the development and cultivation of seeds, as well as the challenges seeds can pose for farmers — for example, the seeds used to grow seedless watermelons.
