2024 Link survey Terms and Conditions

Here are the terms and conditions that apply to the University of California, Office of the President’s (“UCOP’s”) Link survey promotion (the “Promotion”).

The sponsor of this Promotion is the University of California, Office of the President, 1111 Franklin St, Oakland, CA 94607. (“University of California” or “UC”). You understand that you are providing your information to the University of California.

By entering the Promotion, these terms and conditions apply to your survey entry. Participation in this Promotion constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions. These terms and conditions may change from time to time without notice.

To participate in the Promotion, you must submit your response to our survey, which is being conducted through Alchemer, between March 18, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Pacific time and April 5, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific time (“Promotion Period”).

These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of the State of California. The laws in some places don’t allow the University of California to run this Promotion, in which case the Promotion and these terms and conditions are void in those places. If you are under 18, you must have permission from your parents or legal guardian to enter.

Eligibility to participate

The Promotion is intended for current UCOP employees. No purchase is necessary to enter or win.

Eligibility for prizes

To be eligible to win a prize during the Promotion Period, you will need to:

  1. Complete the 2024 Link survey;
  2. Submit your survey with a valid UCOP email address; and
  3. Be a current UCOP employee

Ineligible participants: Persons who are not currently employed by UCOP, including UCOP retirees; staff or faculty of UC campuses that are not part of UCOP; and members of the general public. UCOP staff who were closely involved in the creation of Link and/or the Promotion and its content (e.g., UCOP Internal Communications personnel) may complete the quiz but are not eligible for prizes.

Other terms

Your entry is received at the time Survey Gizmo registers your response. Incomplete and invalid entries will not be accepted. The University of California assumes no responsibility for errors that may occur in the transmission of the entrant’s survey. You will only be entered into the Promotion one time, even if you submit multiple survey responses.

All eligible entries will be collected during the specified time period and the randomly selected entry will win the prize. This Promotion is a competition of chance, not skill.

The random drawing of 2 winners of $25 Amazon gift cards will take place on April 8, 2024, at the University of California, Office of the President office at 1111 Franklin St, Oakland CA 94607 (or at another location determined by the University of California). Survey entries will each be assigned a number based on the order in which they were received in Survey Gizmo (i.e., the first survey entry to come in will be #1, the second survey entry to come in will be #2, etc.). Winners will be randomly selected using Google’s random number generator. The results are final.

The University of California reserves the right to disqualify any entrant who has engaged in: unlawful or improper conduct, conduct designed to jeopardize the fair conduct of the Promotion, conduct generally damaging to the reputation of the University of California, or any breach of these terms and conditions (as determined in the University of California’s sole discretion). The University of California is not responsible for any fraud, intellectual property infringement, or other misconduct on the part of the entrants. Should an entrant engage in fraud, infringement, or other misconduct of any nature, including but not limited to a violation of the official rules, such entrant shall be subject to immediate disqualification. The University of California reserves the right to terminate, modify or amend the contest at any time if the fairness, integrity, and or proper administration of the contest is jeopardized.

The University of California has the right to extend the dates of the Promotion, and we’ll provide notice if we do extend the dates. The University of California can also cancel or modify the Promotion if there are technical or administrative reasons beyond our reasonable control.

You agree that your entry reflects your own opinions. You also agree that your entry will not violate the privacy rights (or similar rights) of others.

By entering the Promotion, you grant the University of California a worldwide, non-exclusive license in perpetuity to reproduce, publish, adapt, communicate, publicly perform, and broadcast all or part of your entry in any media in connection with this Promotion. On submission, you also consent to us editing, re-using, storing, reproducing and communicating your entry in any medium.

The University of California has the right to extend the dates of the Promotion, and we’ll provide notice if we do extend the dates. The University of California can also cancel or modify the Promotion if there are technical or administrative reasons beyond our reasonable control.

The 2 winning entries, as determined by the random drawing, will receive $25 Amazon gift cards. Total prize value is USD $25 per winner. This prize value is accurate as of the start of the Promotion.

Each entrant is responsible for monitoring their email for notification or other communications related to this Promotion. On Tuesday, April 9, 2024, we’ll start notifying the winners by sending an email to each winner from the link@ucop.edu email account. The winners must respond and claim their prizes by emailing us at link@ucop.edu within two weeks of our notification, or we’ll pick another winner on the following Monday. We’ll ask for any details required for the prize with the winner by email.

We intend to identify all winners of the Promotion in an upcoming Link article.

If you win, we may ask you to provide proof of identity, UCOP affiliation, residency, and age. If you can’t provide, or refuse to provide suitable proof, then you may be disqualified, and we may choose another winner.

You can’t exchange the prize for cash from the University of California, and the prize is non-transferable. We’ll use reasonable efforts to award the prize as described but if we are unable to do that, we may substitute another prize of comparable value.

You’ll be responsible for all taxes, insurance and any other expenses, fees, and costs connected with that prize that are not included in the prize description.

You’re also responsible for your use of the prize, including complying with any applicable terms and conditions of use, including any applicable conditions along with complying with all relevant laws, rules, and regulations.

The University of California is not responsible for use of the prize that results in:

  1. loss that was not reasonably foreseeable;
  2. loss that was not caused by our negligence;
  3. business losses or loss suffered by non-consumers;
  4. losses caused by factors that could reasonably be considered to be outside our control; and
