UCOP Microaggression (Part1) – From Sesame Street to Mainstreet

NOTE: This is the part 1 of a 2 part class

The term “microaggression” has become widely used and misunderstood. As we continue to develop more inclusive workplace practices, this interactive session will help develop a shared understanding of how microaggressions can affect our work environment and organizational culture. In this interactive session, participants will:

• Learn what microaggressions are and their underlying messages about distinct social groups
• Learn strategies for limiting the occurrences of microaggressions, at the individual and institutional level
• Discuss different approaches to responding to microaggressions
• Learn strategies for how to recover after learning you have delivered a microaggression
