President’s Leadership Conversations: Chancellor S. Jack Hu
Registration is required. Link will be emailed to UCOP employees the week of Oct. 19.
President Milliken invites UCOP staff to join him for the next installment in the President’s Leadership Conversations series, featuring UC Riverside Chancellor S. Jack Hu.
The President’s Leadership Conversations bring our community together to hear from leaders across UC and others with perspectives that can inform and inspire our work at UCOP.
Dr. Hu became UC Riverside’s 10th chancellor on July 15, 2025, and is a distinguished professor of mechanical engineering. He brings nearly four decades of experience in academic leadership, research, and innovation. Before joining UCR, he served as provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at the University of Georgia and vice president for research at the University of Michigan, where he oversaw a $1.5 billion research enterprise. A leader in manufacturing science, he has advanced research in assembly systems, materials joining and quality control, with support from more than $46 million in funding and 10 U.S. patents.
The conversation will explore Chancellor Hu’s personal and leadership journeys, the role of research and innovation in public higher education, and the opportunities and challenges facing UC and its campuses. (Confirm final topics with the event team before publication.)
