UCOP community shows its giving spirit in holiday drives
From rain gear to skateboards, toy cars to business suits, UCOP staff donations brightened the holidays for clients of several East Bay nonprofits. Here’s a wrap-up of your contributions to our local community:
Thanks to OP staff, the November clothing drive, a joint effort of the President’s Advisory Committee on the Status of Women (PACSW) and the UC Oakland Partnership, collected four racks of gently used business clothing and a large box of shoes, purses and accessories for Oakland-based Wardrobe for Opportunity. More donations await delivery to the organization, but are in need of hangers. If you have extra dry-cleaning hangers you would like to part with, contact Karen Vecchi (karen.vecchi@ucop.edu).
Wardrobe for Opportunity provides coaching and clothing to low-income individuals to help them find jobs and build careers.

The annual pre-Thanksgiving bake sale and raffle, brought to you by the Office of the General Counsel, netted over $4,700 for local charities:
- Covenant House California ($2,125.57)
- First Place for Youth ($2,125.58)
- East Bay SPCA ($477.35)

The Giving Wall drive brought in 192 gifts and $510 to support several families’ holiday dreams through the East Oakland Community Project. Families submitted their wish lists, ranging from scarves and umbrellas to toys and books, for posting at the Franklin building, which OP staff then fulfilled.
Thanks to the entire UCOP community for your holiday giving spirit.
